What is Reiki and Does it Really Work?
Most people have heard of Reiki, and a great number of people and animals have experienced a session. It is so popular, there is an abundance of Reiki practitioners. It is even offered in some hospitals and clinics. With Reiki being so in demand you may wonder, what is Reiki and does it work?
My journey with Reiki began about ten years ago. I was trained in Usui Reiki 1 and 2 in Sedona, Az. I enjoyed the class, but it didn’t impress me enough to commit to the practice and offer it as a service to my clients.
One thing kept tugging at me to explore Reiki again, a teacher named William Rand. He gained my attention because of his efforts using Reiki for world peace, and he also introduced a new energy to the Reiki world.
William is the creator of Holy Fire Reiki. His spiritual beliefs align with mine, so it was easy for me to appreciate the energy he shares. I must add, Reiki is not affiliated with any religion, but is deeply connected to your inner world and can greatly impact your spiritual awareness.
I enrolled in William’s Holy Fire Master Reiki class. The energy was palpable, so much, that I was excited to offer it to my clients.
As soon as the class was over, I began starting each of my coaching and psychic reading sessions with a short share of Holy Fire Reiki. One person said it opened up her intuition, she knew exactly what I was going to say, before I said it.
Another person felt the energy as a magnetic pull. He became deeply relaxed and felt shifts within his body.
Another person connected to angelic energy; she has felt it before in her meditations. Her hip pain was relieved during the session and she felt heat in her hands, legs and head. She plans on taking a class with William Rand.
What is Reiki?
There are many different types of Reiki, Angel Reiki, Usui Reiki, Holy Fire Reiki and Sekhem Reiki, just to name a few. Most of them have some mystery or even secrets hidden in the practice, but they all have some things in common. Most noted is the mindset that Reiki is a form of sacred healing.
Reiki is the art of sharing energy through the hands of the practitioner, either distant or in person.
Attunements are shared by the teacher to the student. They are sometimes called initiations. They help the student connect with a deeper part of themselves and the Reiki energy.
All types of Reiki have unique symbols that represent different types of energy or healing. These symbols are taught in the classes. This is somewhat secretive, though now you can find some on the internet.
Activations of the energy connected to the symbols is a very important part of learning and practicing Reiki. The energy becomes available to the student after the attunements and activations.
All Reiki recognizes a connection or awareness of a greater power or source of energy.
Most forms of Reiki recognize the lineage of where the practitioner was trained. It is thought to be very important to know the origin of your training. With this being said there are people that practice Reiki without any formal training or understanding of where their form of Reiki originated.
